Privacy Policy

Overview
KoreanSense does not collect personal information and does not track you across other apps or websites. Your learning data stays on your device (and your private iCloud, if enabled). We use privacy-focused, anonymous analytics to improve the app.
Data we collect
KoreanSense does not collect or store any personal data that identifies you. Your learning progress, flashcard data, bookmarks, notes, and history are stored locally on your device and, if enabled, synced across your devices via Apple iCloud. The only data sent off your device is anonymous usage analytics (see Analytics) and routine content downloads (see Third-party services).
iCloud sync
If you have iCloud enabled, KoreanSense uses Apple CloudKit to sync your data across your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. This data is stored in your private iCloud container, is governed by Apple's privacy policy, and is not accessible to us.
Analytics
KoreanSense uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how the app is used so we can improve it — for example, which features are opened and how the purchase screen performs. This data is anonymous: it is not linked to your identity, contains no personal information, includes no IP address or advertising identifiers, and is never used to track you across other apps or websites. Learn more at telemetrydeck.com/privacy.
Third-party services
KoreanSense uses a small number of external services and shows no ads:
- Apple StoreKit — processes in-app purchases; Apple handles all payment data.
- Apple iCloud (CloudKit) — optional sync of your data within your private iCloud.
- TelemetryDeck — anonymous usage analytics (see Analytics).
- Google ML Kit (Digital Ink Recognition) — recognizes handwriting for the handwriting-input feature. Recognition happens on your device; your handwriting is not sent to Google. A recognition model is downloaded once from Google.
- Content delivery (Cloudflare) — listening and reading audio is downloaded on demand from our content host; no personal data is sent.
Some screens link out to other services you choose to open (e.g. "Listen on Spotify/YouTube" in the K-pop section, or external dictionary sources). Those services have their own privacy policies.
In-app purchases
KoreanSense offers a one-time purchase to unlock every feature. Apple's StoreKit processes all transactions. We do not collect or store payment information.
Children's privacy
KoreanSense does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the app collects no personal data and its analytics are anonymous, it is suitable for learners of all ages.
Data storage
Data generated by your use of KoreanSense is stored locally on your device, including study progress and FSRS scheduling, bookmarks, notes, search history, TOPIK results, and app preferences. Removing the app deletes all locally stored data. Data you synced via iCloud remains in your private iCloud account until you delete it there or use the in-app Reset All Progress option.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; changes will appear on this page with an updated revision date.
